Son of God Movie Opens Friday

Dennis Johnson, Jr., Secretary of Evangelization & Family Life

The movie Son of God opens this Friday and many Catholic leaders have endorsed the film. The pre-release hype indicates a quality work but some have expressed caution regarding its viewing by children. Son of God movie

The motion picture industry has given Son of God a PG-13. A Catholic rating was not available at the time of this publication.

If you are organizing or sponsoring a viewing of the movie please ensure that parents are informed and consent to their minor’s participation. Here is a suggested statement you may wish to use:

“Due to the intense and bloody portrayal of the Crucifixion, the scourging and several sequences of violence in the movie Son of God, some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.”

The movie has a rating of PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America. Rather than simply suggesting parental discretion, the PG-13 rating carries the warning:  “Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some Material May Be Inappropriate For Children Under 13.”

Marjorie Durante, Director of Buena Nueva FM

Buena Nueva FM, the radio ministry of the Diocese of Orlando, invites you to be part of one of the biggest endeavors of the station, the RadioThon –our semiannual fundraiser! This year we are going to have the “Easter RadioThon” starting on Monday, May 12 at 8am and finishing up the week on Friday, May 16 at 8pm. During these 60 hours of live broadcasting we want to have the opportunity to know our diocesan community better and would like to invite you to plan to be with us that week.

We know there are amazing stories that happen in our parishes and communities so please share your stories with us, that we may have a great RadioThon while we let our listeners know about what God is doing among us. Please contact Marjorie Durante at 407-246-4884 or mdurante@orlandodiocese.org if you have any stories to share.
