The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has announced an educational campaign to be held June 21 – July 4, 2014 titled “Fortnight for Freedom to Serve.”

The Fortnight will occur at a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power.

These martrys include St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.

The Diocese of Orlando has produced a video and other resources about the freedom that is found in faith in Jesus Christ.  The video also explains how freedom is a gift and responsibility. The video and resources can be found here: https://www.orlandodiocese.org/freedom-gift-and-responsibility.

The theme of this year’s Fortnight will focus on the freedom to serve the poor and vulnerable in accord with human dignity and the Church’s teaching.  There is a website created for the “Fortnight for Freedom to Serve” found here.
