How do you become a priest?

The process to become a priest is a wonderful journey! The best place to start is by getting involved in the parish in several ministries. Spending time with the priests will be very helpful. Attending youth group to have support of the community and a strong prayer life are essential.  Once these things are in place then receiving spiritual direction and doing some spiritual reading will strengthen the call.

Speaking to the vocation director, visiting the seminary and applying will be the way to get to seminary. Once in seminary the process can last seven years after college or nine after high school. During that time, the seminarian is strengthened to follow God.  After the process, he is ready to say yes to the priesthood and the bishop ordains him a priest.
