Lourdes Academy Students Celebrate Patron Saint

On Feb. 11, students at Lourdes Academy celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, our patron saint, with a school Mass and procession.

A few 8th graders re-enacted the vision St. Bernadette had of Mary in Lourdes, France. Students walked to the parish’s replicated grotto and had the drumline playing, banners up in the air, and a statue of Mary. Mr. O’Dell, the school principal, said a litany using the many names of Mary. There is a grotto at Our Lady of Lourdes School because Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette at the Grotto in Lourdes, France. Our religion teacher, Mrs. Sturm, said we celebrate this feast day because Our Lady of Lourdes is our patron. It was a grand time!
