“The Foundations of Liturgical Theology through the Experience of the Liturgical Year”

Breakout A: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – An Introduction to Liturgical Theology – Participants will be introduced to the language of mystagogical catechesis, how it relates to Christ’s Pascal Mystery and how this unfolds through the celebration of the Liturgy.

Focus Session I: 1:15 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. – Sunday, the Primordial Feast Day -For two thousand years, Christians have gathered together on the Lord’s Day to hear the Scriptures and to celebrate the Eucharist.  Through the lens of mystagogical catechesis and the Pascal Mystery, we will explore the theology of this weekly feast and discuss its implications for the development of the liturgical year.

Focus Session II: 3:15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. – The Great Ninety Days – Through the lens of mystagogical catechesis and the Pascal Mystery, we will explore the theology of Lent, the Sacred Paschal Triduum and the Easter Time by examining the Scripture readings, Roman Missal texts and music of the season.

Breakout B: 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. – The Incarnation Cycle – Through the lens of mystagogical catechesis and the Pascal Mystery, we will explore the theology of Advent and Christmas Time by examining the Scripture readings, Roman Missal texts and music of the season.

Breakout C: 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Ordinary Time – Through the lens of mystagogical catechesis and the Pascal Mystery, we will explore the theology of Ordinary Time, by examining the Scripture readings, Roman Missal texts and music of the season.
