The “Rosary Novena for Life and Liberty,” has been planned for October 14 through October 22. The Novena encompasses the feast days of several saints who suffered persecution for their witness to the Catholic faith, such as the North American Martyrs, St. Ignatius of Antioch, and Bl. Kateri Tekakwitha (to be canonized October 21). Each day’s prayer begins with a brief reflection on the witness of the saint of the day, together with specific prayer intentions related to human life and liberty.

A sample Holy Hour and Homily notes for Saturday, October 20 include a brief catechesis on the three American blesseds who will be canonized in Rome on Sunday, October 21: Kateri Tekakwitha, Mother Marianne Cope, and Pedro Calungsod.  The committees hope that Catholics will be inspired by these new saints who restored hope and dignity to others and who witnessed to their Catholic faith by suffering various forms of persecution for their religious beliefs.
