These Confirmandis had been preparing themselves for this special day for the past several months. They completed service projects, participated in retreats, and attended classes.
The turnout for Confirmation was amazing. More than 350 people, along with the Confirmandis, came to witness the confirming of all candidates. Bishop John Noonan celebrated the Mass, concelebrated by Sacred Heart pastor, Father John Murray, and four of the Redemptorist priests. The Sacred Heart choir sang throughout, which added to the beauty of the ceremony.
As a Confirmandi, I can honestly say that the experience was incredible. Just a few months ago, I had no idea how much the Catholic faith could affect my everyday life. Throughout the classes and retreats, we were told stories about the strange and powerful ways in which God works through the power of the Holy Spirit. I admit that I was nervous going into Confirmation, but with the help of my sponsor, my Church community, and Sacred Heart’s religion teacher, Maria Bilodeau, I, along with so many other Confirmandis, took the final steps to becoming a full member of our Church.
