Students Crown the Blessed Mother, Mary

In the beginning of May, Saint Paul Catholic School in Leesburg holds the crowning of Mary.

There are several statues around the campus, but the students formally crowns one of them each year. This year the students crowned a beautiful statue that depicts Mary surrounded by little children and holding the baby Jesus.

As the eighth grade students sang, other students walked in a line through a path outlined in flowers. The second and eighth grade classes led the prayer service, with a second grader carrying the crown and an eighth grader crowning the statue.

The ceremony was beautiful and at its close, each child, starting with the youngest class, took turns leaving flowers at the feet of the Blessed Mother.
