Saint Joseph Catholic School honored the Blessed Mother in the annual May Crowning on May 12th. The second graders who celebrated their First Holy Communion this month were recognized by taking part in the processional. Two students from each grade walked down the aisle holding a flower which was placed in a vase in front of Mother Mary. Two eighth graders, escorted by two second graders, held Mary’s crown and placed it on her head.
Eighth grade girls participated in a lovely liturgical dance honoring Mary. The May Crowning symbolizes Mary’s position of honor as the Mother of Jesus Christ. During the month of May we pray the Hail Mary ten times on the rosary. The month of May is a time to celebrate Mary and her role as the mother of Jesus.
