I’m sure we can all say the Advent and Christmas Seasons are amazing – a glorious time of prayer, purity, and love. This year the seventh grade classes at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School made Advent prayer books. They included pictures of family and friends we want to pray for, special prayers, and Scripture verses. These books are lovely.
The eighth grade classes wrote Advent Reflections that our school community can access on the St. Margaret Mary School website. They include Scripture, music, and a thought-provoking question. Just by looking at these reflections, you can see the effort that the students put into writing them.
In addition, all second through eighth grade students went to Reconciliation to prepare for the birth of our Lord. Our parish offers many opportunities for receiving this Sacrament during the Advent Season.
In early December, we collected toys for needy children in our area for our annual Christmas Store. St. Margaret Mary also has a Live Nativity. Volunteers pose in costumes to reenact the Nativity scene. We are blessed to have all of these opportunities to better prepare for the coming of Christ.
Our school also has an Advent Concert, a night of beautiful and holy music, presented by grades Pre-K through 5th grade, our school choir and band.
