Horizons of the Spirit – Airing on NBC, Saturday, November 16th at 12:30 pm.  Featuring interviews with historians, journalists and sisters, the one-hour documentary brings to life the inspiring, virtually untold story of Catholic women religious who have greatly and at times sacrificially contributed to the American landscape. Using rare archival photographs, video, film and new history unearthed through research, it is a vibrant journey from the arrival of the first sisters in 1727 to sisters working in surprising ways today. Their leadership and innovation, begun in a time when women had few rights, helped build many of the institutions, schools, hospitals and social service institutions woven into the social fabric of our nation. Millions have passed through the doors of Catholic schools and hospitals, but few know the full story of American Catholic sisters … until now!
