World Refugee Day 2015

This week, Pope Francis drew attention to World Refugee Day as he prayed for our “brothers and sisters who seek refuge far from their native lands, who seek a home where they can live without fear: that they might always be respected in their dignity. I encourage the work of those who bring help to those in need.”

For more than thirty-five years Catholic Charities of Central Florida has assisted the Church in its role of ‘welcoming the stranger’ (Matthew 25:35). In January 2012, Catholic Charities of Central Florida was named the lead agency by the Florida Department of Children & Families to coordinate refugee services in Central Florida.

Celebrate World Refugee Day with Catholic Charities of Central Florida this Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 10 a.m.-2p.m. at Oak Ridge High School (700 West Oak Ridge Road, Orlando, FL 32809). Established by the United Nations, World Refugee Day honors the courage of refugees determined to begin a new life for their families. The event is family friendly, free and features traditional music and dance performances, world cuisine (available for purchase) and cultural exhibits.
