ORLANDO | The Diocese of Orlando welcomes two new principals: Kristen Hall, who will take the helm at St. Anthony School in Lakeland and Misty Merritt, who will lead Annunciation Academy in Altamonte Springs.
Hall had spent the past three years serving as the assistant principal of St. Anthony. She has 20 years of experience in education, 18 within Catholic schools, and a deep passion for faith-based learning. She was born and raised in Philadelphia and is a proud Catholic school graduate, from kindergarten to grade 12.
Hall earned a bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in education from St. Joseph University in Philadelphia, and a doctorate in education from Florida Southern College in Lakeland.
She and her husband Josh enjoy family time with their daughter Maria, especially swimming and board games. Hall is grateful to continue St. Anthony’s legacy of faith, excellence and community. Her heart is full of energy and optimism as she leads the school into a bright new chapter.
Merritt has served at Annunciation Academy for 17 years. A product of Catholic schools in South Florida, Merritt previously worked in nonprofit management and youth ministry before answering the call to education. She has taught middle school social studies and religion, as well as enrichment for grades three to five, and served as assistant principal at the academy for the past decade.
Active in the Diocese of Orlando, Merritt has contributed to leadership committees and Catholic school accreditation processes. She is passionate about forming students, teachers, and families in faith and fostering a vibrant school culture rooted in mission, academic excellence, and community.
“This milestone offers a powerful opportunity to reflect on our mission, deepen our Catholic identity, and say ‘Yes’ — just as Mary did — to the unique ways God calls each of us to serve, lead, and grow in our community,” Merritt said.
