My Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
Alleluia! He is Risen! Jesus, through the gift of God, plunges into death, taking our sin with Him, arising out of the tomb, and gathers us eternally within the bosom of His Sacred Heart. On this Easter morning, we hear our salvation history come alive through Mary Magdalen’s report of the empty tomb. We run with the apostles, Peter and John, to see for ourselves what we have heard. We arrive at the empty tomb surrounded by all the faithful, the choir of angels and the communion of saints and we praise God and rejoice. The message of this death of Jesus is not about life ending, rather it is about life beginning. God is with us always. He tells us to seek what is above; to continue to seek God in all our ways that we are not led away from Him. Our own heart bursts with the healing touch of this Divine love. We receive this salvific hope each time we receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
God summons each one of us from His Cross and Tomb. Let us continue this Easter season, not in rest, but as our Lord says, “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work” (John 5:17). Let us journey with God and fill the earth with His everlasting goodness.
Alleluia! He is Risen indeed!
