ORLANDO  |  In its third year, the Golden Rose Award is given by the Orlando Diocese Catholic Council of Women to young women who are making a difference in their parishes and communities through outstanding leadership, service, and spirituality — the national council’s three pillars.

This year’s winners recognized by deanery are Jane G. of St. John Neumann in Lakeland; Delsie R. of St. Stephen Parish in Winter Springs; Anna S. of Sts. Peter and Paul in Winter Park; Anna B. of Prince of Peace in Ormond Beach, River S. of Ascension in Melbourne; and Madison J. of St. John Neumann.

From among them, Jane G. was selected to represent the Diocese of Orlando at the National Council of Catholic Women Golden Rose Award competition during the national convention in August.

Jane indicated she demonstrates leadership at her school by being involved with “volunteering with lower-income elementary schools; planning and enacting service events and coordinating meetings with underclassmen to inspire them.”

She said she witnesses to living a spiritual life by transferring to a Catholic high school where she is surrounded by the Holy Spirit, which provided deeper insight to her faith.

She noted, “By understanding God’s love and grace I make sure everyone encounters an extension of it through me, His disciple.”

The National Council of Catholic Women acts through its members to support, empower and educate all Catholic women in spirituality, leadership and service.
