Korean parish in Orlando welcomes new priest

ORLANDO | Every five years, Korean community of St. Ignatius Kim Parish in Orlando welcomes a new priest from their homeland. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, Bishop John Noonan joined the community in bidding a fond farewell to Father Aventinus Han, Deog Su and welcomed Father Petrus Kim, Myung Sub.

“Father Han always emphasized the importance of not forgetting mother languages and strived and contributed to make the Church community a place where kids and youth parishioners want to come,” said one parishioner. Another agreed noting his “positive impact on the community, especially in encouraging kids and youths to learn Korean by promoting Sunday School.”

During Mass, Bishop Noonan extended a warm welcome to Father Kim. The bishop blessed Father Han and thanked him for his care and love.
