The Church considers emerging adults to be those persons in their late teens, twenties, and early thirties who represent diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, educational, vocational, social, political, and spiritual backgrounds. They are university students, working professionals; they are single, married, divorced, or widowed; they are with or without children; they are people on a journey to know the Lord.
“Pastoral Juvenil” refers to young adult ministry within a Latino context. It is most effective when it interrelates to the overall schema for comprehensive parish-based adult ministry.
Diocesan support for young adult ministry is shared within the Secretariat for Laity, Family, and Life because it requires interdisciplinary approaches that involve youth, adult, family, and campus ministries.
