It is important for Catholics to foster Christian unity and to promote interreligious dialogue whenever and wherever possible. At the Second Vatican Council, the Church fathers established various principles for ecumenism which continue to guide the pursuit for unity among those who believe in Jesus Christ and commonality with people of other religions. The diocesan ecumenical officer serves as the Bishop’s delegate for these concerns and works in collaboration with the Secretariat for Laity, Family, and Life.
